Brief History of Fonda College
At the initiative of the “Consortium for Physics” and its Director Franco Bradamante, the College for Sciences was established in Trieste at the end of 1998, which began its activity in the academic year 1999-2000.
The College’s founding act was signed in March 2001 in the Sala Cammarata of the University of Trieste. On that occasion, with a unanimous decision, the newly established College was dedicated to Luciano Fonda, and Franco Bradamante became its President, remaining in office until 2012.
Franco Bradamante was succeeded as president of the college by Sergio Paoletti, Fabio Benedetti since 2013, and Vanni Lughi since 2022.
Since 2016, the Collegio Fonda has been located in the former Military Hospital of Trieste, a building of great historical value that was completely restored in 2015 and used as a university residence for the University of Trieste.
