The main features of the hundreds of identification tools created by the Dept. of Life Sciences of the University of Trieste will be discussed, with some practical examples of their use carried out by the audience. The Collegio Fonda students will have an opportunity to test some of these tools during an excursion to Val Rosandra.

Pier Luigi Nimis, is Professor of Botany at the Department of Life Sciences of the University of Trieste. He specialised in lichenology and phytogeography, including the uses of lichens as indicators of pollution and devising methods for web-based identification keys.
